CuddleBridge is a platform that connects shelter animals with caring people for day-long outings in Vancouver, BC. Every outing reduces kennel stress, improves socialization, and makes animals up to 3x more likely to be adopted.

How much does it cost to borrow a shelter dog?

A half-day outing (4 hours) starts at CA$29 and a full-day outing (8 hours) starts at CA$49. Every booking includes $10 directly to the shelter, comprehensive insurance coverage, and a care guide.

Are the dogs safe to borrow?

Every dog on CuddleBridge is assessed using C-BARQ (Canine Behavioral Assessment and Research Questionnaire), a peer-reviewed tool developed at the University of Pennsylvania. Dogs are evaluated across 14 behavioral dimensions and only listed if they pass our safety threshold.

Can I adopt a dog I've borrowed?

Yes! Many borrowers end up becoming adopters. If you fall in love with a dog during your outing, the shelter can start the adoption process right away. Your borrowing fee is credited toward the adoption fee.

CuddleBridge is launching in Vancouver, BC. We are currently in outreach with shelters across Greater Vancouver and plan to expand to other Canadian cities in late 2026.

Every dog on CuddleBridge is assessed using the Canine Behavioral Assessment and Research Questionnaire (C-BARQ) — the gold standard in veterinary behavioral science, developed at the University of Pennsylvania.

C-BARQ evaluates dogs across 14 behavioral dimensions including stranger-directed aggression, fear, trainability, and energy level. Based on their scores, each dog receives a safety tier that determines their borrowing requirements.

Green Tier

Safe for all borrowers. Low reactivity across all dimensions. No special experience required.

Amber Tier

Safe with guidance. May have higher energy or mild reactivity. Brief orientation required before first outing.
